2021 is Almost Done

The Project X Newsletter: Volume XLVIII

And just like that, the year 2021 is coming to an end. We have had good times and bad times throughout the year, so let’s reflect on some of each.

Let’s start with the bad and try to flip our perspective.

The biggest obstacle that many of us struggled with and are still struggling with is COVID-19. Whether it’s because we have friends or relatives that have been sick, quarantine frustration, or disagreeing with the point of view with those close to us, this pandemic is not exactly fun. However, it is the new and current “way of life,” so here are some of the positive things we can try to remember:

  • We get to spend more time with our immediate or chosen family.

  • We have more time to focus on ourselves individually.

  • It can be a better time to practice self care, exercise, and do things that make YOU happy.

It gives us more time to learn a new skill or discover a new hobby.

With the pandemic it can be hard to think of some good things that have happened in 2021, but there is one that we should all be proud of: this year we have seen more nations than ever before come together to end period poverty. Unfortunately, this still means 2.3 billion people do not have access to sanitation services that some are offered. It is up to all of us to continue to help. We may have made progress, but that doesn’t mean we take a step back from donating, learning, and sharing with others on ways to help.

Going into 2022 let’s think of ways to try and flip our perspective from the negative, and realize that it is up to us as citizens to keep trying to make the world a more positive place.

Out-of-Home Update:

As this year comes to a close and with next year’s planning in full swing, we wanted to provide some vital design information for you to consider when designing your OOH creative. Please review the 5 Keys to Creating Memorable OOH Ads below and you will be on track for some highly visible and memorable creative!

5 Keys to Creating a Memorable OOH Ad

  • Stick with one idea or concept

  • Lead with your logo

  • Use an image

  • Create a high contrast design

  • Use seven words or less

Stick with one idea or concept:

Get one point across. When you try to do too many things your intent gets lost and your message is forgotten.

Lead with your logo:

When your audience is driving or walking by your advertisement and they only get to see one thing, the place most people start reading from is the upper left corner. Place your logo there.

Use an image:

Make sure your image is relevant to your headline and expresses an emotion. Using an image that plays well with your headline and makes an emotional connection assists your audience in remembering your message.

Create a high contrast design:

Use a dark background color with light colored text. The dark background will absorb the surrounding light allowing the light colored text to pop off your media.

Remember: High Contrast = High Visibility = High Readability = High Memorability

Use seven words or less:

Use the fewest amount of words possible. The easier your copy is to read and comprehend the more likely your audience will retain your message and take action.

Using these 5 Keys to Creating a Memorable OOH Ad will increase your visibility and connection to your audience. Feel free to reach out to us anytime for a design consultation where we can discuss your creative and evaluate it against the 5 keys to make your OOH creative as impactful as possible.
