Out-of-Home Advertising for Higher Education
Higher education will observe a long-anticipated decline with enrollment numbers starting this Fall. Described as the “demographic cliff,” colleges and universities will come face-to-face with a shrinking pool of applicants from graduating high school seniors, due to declining birth rates in the United States.
To generate interest and attract potential students, colleges and universities will need to promote the benefits of their programs and campuses. They also have to consider reaching out to a newer population who may not have considered higher education.
Here are a few ways higher education institutions can use out-of-home advertising.
How Colleges & Universities Can Use Out-of-Home Advertising:
Prioritize billboards in high-traffic areas to share what makes your institution special. Are there courses available online? Multiple campuses or locations where students can attend classes? Highlight these benefits.
Use transit and bus media for coverage. For many markets, you can select a package of bus ads and/or bus shelters along specific routes. The same goes for transit lines.
Consider using airport media (digital and static are usually available) in targeted markets to reach potential students and families especially as they start their college visits/tours
For any street-level advertising (bus shelter ads, street furniture, kiosks, etc.) include a QSR code especially if the call-to-action is direct
For Athletics, use OOH to drive attendance and also entice future students with athletic programs
